    Reduced DROS fees?

Has anyone heard any more about the DoJ proposal to reduce the DROS fees. I thought they were supposed to make an announcement early in November.
    Here's the proposal:

And I can't find any mention of a decision anywhere on their site.

And, yes, I did a search on CalGuns under different key words.

What they could do that would be better, is lower the Taxes on Americans. The DROS fee the gov't requires is nothing compared to how much we lose tax wise.

I'm with you. I can handle $35 bucks for dros, but taxes suck!

Okay, that's two members who don't know and don't care.
        Thanks for playing.

And where are you being charged $35 for DROS? The DROS fee is $19 and they add to that a $1 "Safety fee" and $5 "Training fee", $25 total.

Thats what I was wondering. If you are paying $35 for DROS you are getting screwed.

They are probably talking about the PPT fees.

Just talked to the person in charge of administrative action at the DOJ. The proposed ruling says
by November 1, 2010 and by November 1st each year thereafter, the department shall publish its determination on the DOJ public website. If the department determines it is necessary to administratively adjust the DROS fee, the department shall provide
notice of the amount and date of the adjustment at least 30 days before the adjustment takes effect to all interested parties.
Apparently the plan to reduce fees has not yet been sent to the OAL. Once the plan is submitted, it usually takes at least 30 days to be approved/denied.

An FYI the OAL is "The Office of Administrative Law that reviews regulation changes proposed by state agencies"

So January, 2011 at the earliest.

For DROS, dealers are allowed to charge $10 extra as long as the receipt states "dealer fee."

17.What fees can I charge in addition to the DROS?
In addition to the State's $19.00 DROS fee, you must also charge a $1.00 Firearms Safety Testing fee and a $5.00 Safety and Enforcement fee. If the transaction being processed is a dealer sale, consignment return, or return from pawn, you may impose other charges as long as this amount is clearly shown as a "dealer fee" and not misrepresented as a State fee.

                (PC sections 12071(b)(11), (12))
