Thats why myriad laws on purchasing are a complete fail. You dont stop any illegal purchases or only 1% and you inconvience (or worse) the other 99%

My dad got a handgun back because it was registered to him. Actually he got some other stuff back too because of the handgun. He had reported it stolen but apparently it didn't make it into some database because they called him up and wanted to know why this guy they just arrested had his gun.

I'm sure he will still agree that forced registration is bull****. He hasn't voluntarily registered anything.

I think trying to portray registration as the only means of having stolen property returned is just rediculous. If that's the case then why dont we register everything that has serial number on it?

With today's modern computer databases if you file a crime/theft report and the serial numbers of ANY stolen items are included, should an item be recovered then it's owner can be determined because of the theft report that was filed.

So there should be no need to register ALL firearms, when stolen simply supply serial number for the police report. Wow....it seems so simple, why register ALL firearms, when all you really need to do is "register" the ones that get stolen?
