M1 cash n carry

I have an M1 .30 cal carbine that I'm considering selling. Before I get blasted for not know or having enough info, I'm here to get some details. It was made by General Motors in 8-43. It also has been stamped Blue Sky. So how do I find out if it qualifies for cash n carry? Also I did a bunch of reserch on the value and can't come up with anything concrete, prices vary from$600-$900, so how do I price it?? Any and all input/advice is appreciated.

Well it was made in 1943 and any rifle that is over 50 years old is cash and carry. So your good there. As far as pricing... it varies alot. Pictures of condition and knowing if it is all matching will help pin point alot. Also some guns manufactured by certain companies are worth more because less of them were made, but I can't comment on this part because I don't know how many GM made.

Thanks for the info. I had heard that 50 year rule before, but wanted a second opinion. Its in great condition. I have never fired it, but it funtions/cycles great. I will get some pics up when my daughter gets home with the camera.

Yes, if it's a Blue Sky import and is original condition it qualifies for C&R Cash and Carry.

Blue Sky means it was returned to the US from Korea by an importer. Some people take personal offense at the Blue Sky stamping. Can reduce what you'll get for it.

And just to clarify, the 50 year old C&R long gun cash and carry without an FFL thing only applies if you are transferring the firearm to another California resident. If you are transferring it to an out of state resident then Federal law comes into play and you need to go through an FFL.

The "Blue Sky" stampings were also sometimes struck so hard that they actually deformed the inside of the barrel. A bore light will tell. I recently sold a nice Blue Sky "mix-master" Inland for $525.00, so you are in the right ball park.

If you are selling out of state, you must sell to someone with either a -01 license(FFL dealer) or -03(C&R licensed collector).

50 years or older on NON-MODIFIED guns only. They need to be in their original config and not a swapped caliber etc. Just another thing to know.
