Saw one at Turners Redondo. It is really nice. Would like to see how it is put together, i.e. separate the upper from lower. Price is up there, all depends if it goes into some sort of military production contract. From what I hear from a SEAL buddy, and a SEAL I met at a range is that they are POOP.
For what they are its not worth it to switch over. It could have been designed better but thats just what I hear. I've held one, it just doesnt seem special to me.USMC '05-'09 - 2111 - Keeper Of The Cold Steel

I absolutely love mine and that is from actual experience. Minimal recoil, minimal muzzle rise, stays really clean and great ergonomics. It is hard for me to go back to a regular stock after using the FN SCAR stock. I have shot A LOT of rifles and this is by far my favorite. Put a Battlecomp 1.0 on it and you're good to go.Magpul Gear Contact us for the best prices!

I really appreciate the feed back guys.
As far as pricing goes here in SoCal, i agree, it's way over priced. The pricing out of state however, looks alot better. Even with the out of state transfer and shipping it's about $600 cheaper than our pricing with sale tax.
I will also look into the Battlecomp 1.0 i'm not really up to date on muzzle breaks.sigpic.

The Battlecomp on the FN Scar is great, plus you can use a Solar Tactical style grip to run featureless which is a huge plus.
I don't work for Solar Tactical, but they made me a tan grip and the product turned out really good so I would recommend them.Comment

I have one. Just got it last week. Had one quick range session and many hours of playing with it at the house. Disassembly and reassembly is super easy (you only need to pull one take-down pin to take the whole thing apart for field stripping. I had not interest in the SCAR until I actually fired a buddy's and then I had to have one. It is very comfortable (for me), it is relatively lightweight (but not as lightweight as a super simply KISS AR with no rails, and a light barrel, etc). Love the adjustability of the stock, including the comb. The PWS comp is great.
To the guy whose buddy is a "SEAL" what is exactly was "POOP" about it?
Here is a DETAILED and objective review of the SCAR and some comparison to AR-15s.
In the end, the SCAR is just another semi-auto 223 rifle. I happen to love it and find many features on it that I prefer over my ARs but I will ALWAYS have ARs in addition to it.Last edited by ohsmily; 11-30-2010, 10:52 PM.Expert firearms attorney: https://www.rwslaw.com/team/adam-j-richards/

I can also speak from an owner's viewpoint, not from hearsay. The firing characteristics are super smooth. I'd dare say that recoil is even lighter than your typical AR. You don't get the "sproing" sound as you would with an AR BCG hitting the buffer. But you do get a tad more mechanical noise from the actual cycling. The reciprocating charging handle is annoying if you mount an optic on it so I moved it to the right-hand side of the gun.
First time I took it out to the range, I let my two shooting companions pop off a few rounds. Both their reactions were identical after the first shot. They turned back at me with a look of pure amazement & joy.Comment

ohsmily, That sounds great. I just bought my 16 and should have it in the next couple of weeks. i'm excited to compare it to my AR's as well.I have been doing a lot of research and i'm curious about Optics now. Have you had a chance to play with any yet?sigpic.

The only issue I have with the scar is the front sight. It doesn't lock in super solid when you flip it up. Mine has 1/8 inch of play in it which throws off my shots a bit. I'm not sure if other scar owners have slight wiggle with their front sight as well. Shoots great with my eotech 512 on it. Recoil is almost non existant and I love the ergos. I slapped a hammerhead grip on mine which feels pretty good and looks better than monsterman grips or those grip slipons. The charging handle smacks my thumb at least once every range trip too. The stock feels like heaven in my shoulder. The whole rifle is just a masterpiece IMHOComment
