Shooting in Beverly Hills Last Night

Beverly Hills has one of the absolute best police departments in Los Angeles county. A very well known Hollywood publicist was shot last night. It'll be interesting to see how the investigation goes.

Deadline.com has become the preeminent trade publication for the entertainment biz. It was nice to see the anti's put in their place on a website mostly read by "Hollywood" folk.

Showbiz Publicists Help Ronni Chasen's Firm Pete Hammond Remembers Ronni Chasen R.I.P. Ronni Chasen 3RD & 4TH UPDATE, 12 PM:  Shock and dismay and in some cases tears swept Hollywood this morning when news spread that popular Oscar publicist Ronni Chasen had been the tragic victim of violence ...

(Oh, and in case you were wondering, the Beverly Hills PD use Springfield XD's except for a few guys who prefer 1911's. )

BH has a population of over 30,000. Are shootings really so rare there that they prompt major headlines?

They are with a high profile victim.
With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

Bizarre. Obviously theft wasn't the motive unless it was totally botched or an initiation. Sad to hear.

Yes, and like Intoforever said, especially with a high profile victim.

Purely anecdotal, but there's an LA urban legend that violent criminals avoid Beverly Hills. I can speak from personal experience that the BHPD has an extraordinary amount of support from the people they protect and they're highly funded. When an LAPD officer shoots someone justifiably, there are protests. When a BHPD officer shoots someone justifiably, they're practically thrown a parade.

I'm glad she didn't have a CCW. Her weapon could have been taken and used against her.
