    light recommendations

ok so I have been convinced that having a light on me at all times sounds like a good idea. now my only question is what kind of light should I carry? does anyone have any recommendations? I would like something with a belt clip, so I don't have to carry it in my pocket and I kind of don't want to have to use a sheath for it if. anyone has a light that they carry on them please let me know what it is ant how you like it.
That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. Dosen't show up on your airport X-ray machines, here, and it cost more than you make in a month.

I can't tell you how many times I use my light. I have never regretted having it.
My current edc is a 4Sevens Preon 1. Uses 1 AAA battery has three levels of brightness (1.8, 8.5 and 70). Great little light, you have to get used to the twist user interface, other than that its a great light. Has a sturdy pocket clip, which may or may not meet your needs. The 4Sevens website has a good selection of lights to browse.
    1 mans opinion.

I carry the preon 2(after seeing nutnfancy's review). It's slimmer and easier to carry than my e1b. Though I miss the lumens at times, it's more convenient when I'm wearing slacks.

There's been a few threads here covering fenix & surefire, these two seem to be the popular brand. Depending on your occupation and clothes you wear, buy something you will comfortable carry all the time.

I went upscale and got a Leupold. No regrets, though it's definitely expensive.

I'm a huge fan of the Fenix lineup, there's a bunch of different options from AAA small light to weapon-ready taclights.

SureFire E series body upgraded with LED head as my go to white light and usually a smaller LED utility light from SureFire, streamlight or fenix.

For a EDC type of light, it'll be tough to beat a Surefire Backup.

I do like Fenix, they make some great single cell pocket lights as well.

+ 1 on the Preon 2 - great light and it also doesn't look all tacticool. You'll be surprised how much you will use a light after you start carrying one all the time.

I also have several Fenix brand lights - good value. I bought about 10 Fenix E01 for most family members - goes on a key chain.

I'm no light expert, but I use them everyday at work. I used a Surefire G2Z for a few years and got a Fenix TK11 a few months ago. I really like the Fenix. It's bright, light and sturdy. I'd take the Fenix over my Surefire. My only complaint about the Fenix is the tailcap switch isn't as sensitive as the Surefire for the 'cigar' hold when using it with a pistol.

Once you start carrying a flashlight on you 24/7 you end up using it all the time (to read small print, or look down this or that little crack, etc) and end up feeling naked without it.

Same thing with a knife too by the way.

Fenix has any variant that will fit your need...period.

                          I have the following

This one I have been using for almost 7 years at work. I have thrown it at walls, cars, dropped it almost on a daily basis, dropped it in gasoline, thrown it down stairs, used it in the rain........ Its beat to hell and back but still keeps going. I love it.

I converted it to LED Terra Lux 220 lumen, that has been going strong for 2 years.

2 mini mag lights that i am going to convert, one for the car and one for the kitchen drawer.

                          And I just bought this.....http://site.gregmcgeeengineering.com/P7-D.html
So far i am blown away by this light. It is insanely bright (prob not a true 900 lumens), has a great flood and will check the throw tomorrow. The fit and finish is quality and talking to Greg through emails he seems to know his stuff. I will have to put it through the paces.

Once I get the Mini mag conversions I will compare all the lights.

I think I might have a problem with Flash lights...........almost as bad as guns.
