During the investigation several rifles were removed from the white Dodge truck involved in the incident, including a hunting rifle and what appeared to be an assault rifle.

Be interesting to see how this pans out. In my neck of the woods more or less.

In response to the type of weapon taken from the truck involved in the incident, Hutchins admitted the gun’s legality is in question.

“It was an AR-15 style weapon (the M-16 used in the US military is a variant of the AR-15) taken from the truck,” Hutchins said. “We are working with the Department of Justice to determine if the weapon is illegal. That is a huge gray area. There are a range of issues which will determine if the gun is an illegal assault rifle or not.”

The passenger in the pickup was shot as he handled a 9 mm handgun that was owned by the driver. The driver had a concealed weapon permit to carry the handgun.
