I think that would be a great idea
you will spend more than a nightstand you will buy at the store, but it will be custom

Remember most gun owners are thrifty. Most would be more inclined to install a gunvault in the nightstand they already have.

Perhaps add anchor points? Wouldn't be too hard to make off with a nightstand.

I have one in my nightstand. I think you need something that most nightstands don't have, like a spring loaded hinged panel on the top that just takes a quick smack to have it pop open so you could get to the gunvault. Right now I have to open the drawer - which takes time. It would be neat if you could access it easier in an emergency.

There is a tether cable for the gunvault that you can get for $10. I have it coming out the back of the nightstand and hooked up to an eyebolt in a stud. It would only slow down a determined thief, but with the alarm blaring time is my friend.

I've made one. 3 drawer nightstand. Top drawer front flips down to access the gun vault. Gun vault also anchored down to shelf that is fixed to nightstand.

As to the nightstand question, I have them on top of the nightstand with the optional security cable bolted to a wall stud. I didn't even consider putting them in a drawer.

Yeah, wife chooses nightstands, I choose pistol safes. One does not equal the other!

I have one (the biometric one) mounted on the side of my bed vertically, can reach down and pop the lid in the dark pretty easily. Whatever i have carried all day ends up in there when i go to bed.

Are you talking about putting it inside the nightstand, on a pull-out drawer? The angle is all funny if you have to reach in and grab your gun if you do it that way. Plus, you're going to need a really long/deep and tall drawer to house the GunVault.

If you put it vertical so the door swings open upward, then it'll be easier to reach into, but it won't fit in a nightstand unless you hallow it out.

I just bolted a Homak safe to the inside of my nightstand drawer. I used 1/4" Carriage bolts with fender washers on the outside of the wood. I even put acorn nuts inside the safe to minimize the chance of scratching the gun.
Total cost was less than $5 for hardware and took less than 30 minutes to install. I would be surprised if you found many customers. Keep in mind the cost of shipping a nightstand would probably be pretty high.
