    C&R Sales Requirements

    Gentlemen,
I have a shotgun manufactured in 1953. Does this item qualify for a C&R type sale, where buyer and saler can conduct a hand to hand exchange/sale? What requirements would have to be met, if any?

    Thank you,

    Thank you,
It qualifies for a "C&R long gun that is over 50 years old type of sale." That means if you are a California resident you can transfer it to another non-prohibited 18+ year old California resident without having to go through a California licensed dealer. You can transfer it with no FFL, no DROS, no waiting period and no paperwork. Calling this type of exemption a "C&R" exemption is kind of misleading because the C&R status of the weapon is only 1/3 of the qualification. Being a long gun and being 50+ years old are the other 2/3 of the qualification.

Your shotgun also qualifies for a "C&R type sale", which means you can transfer it directly to a C&R FFL in any other State. The shotgun's C&R status is all that matters for this.
