Not yet... but I was reading that when the sale of Remington is complete (to the folks who own Bushmaster), they will be putting out an AR. No word on the price yet but I hope it won't be outrageous.

I don't see me buying a Remington AR. When I think Remington, I think old school guns or Zumbo type guns. Well everything changes tho.

They have a pretty impressive record of manufacturing some damned fine tactical weapons.

Their 700P is pretty much the gold standard for sniper rifles, and they do supply the M24 Sniper Weapon System to the US Army.

If a military/LE sniper doesn't use a stock 700P outright, 99% of the time his rifle is built on a 700 action.

There's no real benefit for the consumers for a Remington branded AR. There are more than enough options as far as AR15 rifles are concerned. The only reason for a person to buy a Remington branded AR is if that person wanted to give Remington money.

I could not disagree more: more competition and more choices are almost always a good thing for the consumer.

True, we can sometimes suffer from "choice overload"; or having too many options to decide from, but that's a better problem to have than not having enough options.

If a Remington-branded AR persuades someone to buy it who otherwise wouldn't have bought an AR, so much the better!

The way that I see it is that Remington has a big name and they will market them as varmint and target guns. Some people who would normally not look at black rifles will see them in the catalog and try to order one. Then they will find out about CA gun laws and get mad about it and it has the potential to convert a Fudd into a black rifle supporter.

Maybe, but their consumer product quality has gone way down in the last 10 years or so. I swore off of their current runs of rifles a few years ago. Possibly bushmaster management can do some good.
