    WWII Thompson

    Hello,

I recently restored a 1942 Military Harley that I purchased in the Philippines while stationed there in the mid 80's.An M1 Thompson machine gun was originally carried on this motorcycle. My local gun dealer told me a mag lock is reguired to make a gun of this type legal in Ca.Does anyone out there know a manufacture that makes a mag lock for this type gun?

    Thanks

You can buy very realistic dummy guns for this application.

You could also pick up an Airsoft Thompson as well. Browse around places like www.evike.com or www.airsoftextreme.com

About $150-250 dollars. Then you also have something to shoot at your kids.

Robby Betts at Golden State Tactical has one that he helped design. Give him a call at 916-9617189.

Is this gun legal in Ca? What is the value of a gun like this?

The Military never used drums, The M1a (military version) wouldn't even accept them.

"...two military types of Thompson SMG. The M1928A1 had provisions for box magazines and drums. It had a Cutts compensator, cooling fins on the barrel, and its charging handle was on the top of the receiver. The M1 and M1A1 had a barrel without cooling fins, a simplified rear sight, provisions only for box magazines, and the charging handle was on the side of the receiver...."

You will see them built every which way during the war years...whatever kind of parts were available to build that day was used.
