Moved out to CA in 1992 from mid west and brought a couple guns with me. Asked at the time and they were mainly long guns and 1 pistol. Now I am at the point of doing a ccw or selling the pistol. It is a high cap mag gun, but I didn't register it when I came to CA. Is this an issue since there was no registration to ca before 2000, but I did own it probably in or around 1998 out of state bought at a gunshop long ago. Don't think I have any paperwork on it anymore from back home.

Large Cap Gun before 2000?

Lemme reformat that a bit...In 1992 there was no requirement to register anything you moved here.Moved out to CA in 1992 from mid west and brought a couple guns with me.

I don't get why you say you moved here from the midwest in 1992, but you owned some gun out of state in 1998.
Let's ignore that 1998 reference -- there is no need for a gun to be registered with CA before you can sell it. Lots of guns in CA that DOJ does not know about. There is also no statutory authority to require a gun listed on your CCW to be either registered or on the Handgun Roster.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

Opp meant to say I think I bought in 1989 not 1998
Thanks for the info.
Do you think the will let me register it to my ccw and will there be any hi cap issues with the mags or will I have to use the 10 aftermarkets?Comment

Yes, using on CCW should be OK, and no, should be no issues with large-capacity mags.
HOWEVER, if there are issues, go up to the CCW Information Forum, pick your county, and post the problem.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

Ugly cap gun. Growing up, I had black plastic and shiny metal ones. Now they're all made out of ugly colored plastic.

If you decide to sell the pistol, note that you generally can't sell the large capacity magazine with it unless you disassemble it and sell it as a parts kit. See here:
Can I sell, trade or give large-capacity magazines to anyone in California?
Selling it to a LEO might be doable but may not be worth the hassle.Comment
