I wish I was going! I worked at the Reno Hilton back in the early 90s, and loved to sneak in the back to check out the show. They use the Grand ballroom and the silver ballroom combined for the show. To give an idea how big it is I helped server 10,000 people a sit down dinner in the Grand ballroom. If you get there early enough that there is a line, you will want to go past everyone to the front of the line to buy your tickets and then go back to get in line. They do have a lot of C&Rs but if you are looking for parts, mags, gear, and ammo it is the place to go. like previously warned be careful what you buy there eyes every where. If you pick up high caps make sure you break them down before you put them in your car. O by the way the Grand ballroom is at the south east corner of the casino next to the bowling Allie. Have fun take cash and leave the cards at home or you will regret it!

So I will start by saying I am not going to go and buy hi cap mags because I have no use for them. But other than that what else should I stay away from if I don't want to get in trouble with the law? I don't want break the law and find out the hard way that I did something illegal? So what should I stay away from?
That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. Dosen't show up on your airport X-ray machines, here, and it cost more than you make in a month.

What else is actually illegal? There are tons of AR parts for sale. I guess you could run afoul there. I'm no expert but what AR parts are actually illegal if they are not assembled into a weapon?
The vendors you find there run the gunshow circuit so I very much doubt anyone is selling anything illegal. You may come across a few C&R's that can't be imported into CA...36/51's, M59/66's or maybe an Ishy Enfeild with grenade launchers or twelve round mags...know your laws is all I can say. There is no issue with importing disassembled mags, ammo, C&R's not 50 years old, etc. Just play it cool as a Californian or you will scare people off.
If you are bringing a gun to sell you should have a trigger lock on it....they will want to inspect it before you enter and I think they will put a ziptie through the action.
Remember. You are visiting a free state. Don't act like a nervous Californian! Have fun. You are not breaking any laws.

            edit:
Oh, and if you are coming into Reno via I-80 you might want to stop at Cabela's in Boomtown. If you come in via Hwy. 70 give me a honk as you pass through Portola.

I tell you what, this was my first time at the Reno show and I was in heaven. HUGE is an understatement. I turned $100 into $500 at the blackjack table right before we went in so admission, ammo, and a bunch of mags and accessories were on the casino. Thanks Grand Sierra. LOL

For me, that's the fun of the Grand Sierra. Gambling, cocktails, dining, gunshow, even a driving range, all on the property. My idea of a good time.

My biggest thing about the Big Reno Show is getting together for lunch with friends from Oregon, Reno, and California high country. Seeing all the available gun stuff is cool, too.

The Miwall booth has ungodly amounts of ammo.
It seemed there were more tables selling modern stuff this time around, and I saw more pistol dealers. Sadly, Miwalls was out of the ammo I was seeking.

Thanks to the poster who pointed out Calbellas. I got a ton of stuff there.

Too bad the 2 free nights deal @ the Grand Sierra wasn't good for this weekend.

I ended up getting an M44 for 100$ after talking him down from 150, and bought my .45 acp at Walmart. Even with Tax it was less expensive then ammo I found at the show. Anyone happen to find any good deals? Most of the firearms I saw still had inflated prices; beat up old Mosins with no matching numbers for 175+ a used PSL for 899$!! ok condition SKS for 325-500!

Any one happen to pick up one of the .50BMG rifles?? Those things look freakin sweet!

I live 2 hours away, and did'nt make this one. I usually go twice a year, spend too much, and have a great time. Most all vendors are good people, friendly and helpful. My buddy and I hit Cabelas and Sportsmans Whse before leaving, might as well spread the wealth. Oh yeah, Interloper, we're somewhat neighbors. I'm at Lake Almanor.

best thing I bought at the Reno show was a life membership to the nra my membership expired about 2 months ago and I decided why not buy a life membership not to mention I opted for the easy pay life plan it is $25 up front and $25 every 3 months until the balance is paid off I thought it was a good deal

The Big Reno Show makes prices at Calguns or on GunBroker look very reasonable, but it’s always nice to hand over FFL and cash and walk away with a C&R handgun.

As usual, I waited too long to visit the well-stocked ammo booths. When I finally did, my favorite .45 ACP was mostly gone.
