    Need some clarification

I bought a spikes lower with lpk and bb already installed from a member on here, he threw in a mag and told me at the time of transfer to keep the mag in for transport and I'd be fine. Just went to pick it up out of jail and they wouldn't let me take it home without a lock. Didn't have any money on me so I'll have to go back later but was the seller correct or do I have to buy a lock? I never researched this before because I'd never heard of it, seems pointless to me but I don't make the laws. Transfer was done at doms and the guy at the counter said it was a livermore law

I think CA requires a gun lock unless you can prove you have a safe; last transfer i got from Turners I think I had to sign something saying that I had a gun safe. Saying you have a half dozen locks at home didn't work.

How would signing a document saying you have a safe be any different than stating that you had a lock at home. There's no way to prove either one

I'm thinking because bringing the safe in to prove you have it would be tough.

Seriously though. Yes, you need to buy a lock from the FFL or bring a lock in with a recent receipt (not sure how "recent") or sign the paper stating that you have a safe.

          Just the way it is.

They didn't even give me the option of an affidavit

                They should have.

See the wiki article on locks and safes.

They said alameda county has an ordinance. Oh well. Paid for the lock, got my lower and I'll return the lock tomorrow

Wouldn't take the lock back. Whatever not worth arguing over

It would be interesting to see which ordinance they mean - I sure don't see any reference to locks for guns of any kind in Alameda County Title 9 (Public Peace, Morals...) or anywhere else.

I know. I'm going to do my research and go back. I just got frustrated because the guy behind the counter was a dick about it and I didn't want it to escalate, just want it solved

Plus the link you posted says delivered with. Doesn't say I have to keep it on my firearm. Just for the sale/transfer

And I will say that the way it was handled by staff means that their store will never see any of my money ever again
