PC looks like it spells it out pretty well to me. In any case, the risk vs reward isn't worth it for me. Sure chances are if you do it out in BLM or on some huge private ranch you'll be fine, but do you wanna be that guy that ends up being a news story posted here?

I'd say no, 12312 P.C. is a catch all of sorts and I could see a problem possessing/using it. There's kids being prosecuted for dry ice bombs these days. I wouldn't go near Tannerite.

Ive seen it here for sale before a while back. Ive also seen it on ebay before. Last time i looked into it everyone said it was legal but no one wanted to really risk it.

If they wanted to arrest you for using it in Nevada or Arizona...they have that option there as well. Every state in the union has laws outlawing blowing stuff up.

See, I don't understand where the line is. You can buy and use "stump clearing" products, which amount to nothing more than a small explosive. You can buy and use fireworks in some states, which is purely for entertainment. This stuff is made in mass production and sold through major outlets. So why couldn't it be used?

Last time I went to SF a few months ago, I saw plenty of fireworks there, which would fall in line with what PhantomII said about purchase vs construction. But I wouldn't buy tannerite for the price-to-fun ratio anyway - I'd rather buy some more ammo for $90!

Federally, Tannerite is considered (once mixed) black powder. It is legal to posess and use appropiately for it's intended purpose. Packing 10lbs. in Ford Escort and shooting it may get you in 'hot water'. It's legal, until the idiots do their thing.... You know the rest.
