Shooting Glasses Tint

I really like the UVEX Genesis line. They pass all of the same impact tests as much more expensive polycarbonate glasses, but cost about $10@. Replacement lenses cost about $6@. They're also spectacularly comfortable.
I bought a pair with the SCT50 lens for the motorcycle (just to cut glare). I have four pairs with clear lenses littered around the workshop. In my range bag, I have two pair, both with a yellow and espresso (tinted blu-blocker) lens.
After the discussion in this thread, and bdsmchs comment specifically, I'm going to buy some vermillion lenses to check out how those compare to the yellow."Ecuador offers the United States $23 million a year in economic aid, an amount similar to what we were receiving under the tariff benefits, with the purpose of providing human rights training that will contribute to avoid violations of people's privacy, that degrade humanity," --Fernando AlvaradoComment

The Ranger catalog has a list of the tints and their uses. I learned something from it:

I love my brown/orange tint Oakley Gascans! They make everything appear so clear and defined.
I do want to try these vermillion tint glasses you gentlemen speak of, however--just to see what they're like.sigpic

The yellow lens is to increase contrast. Some people claim that these are only "for overcast days." I use yellow "non prescription" lenses even on sunny days, but only when I am actually shooting as they do not block UV radiation. Otherwise I use a good pair of sunglasses to protect my eyes. You might want to ask your optometrist if your glass are UV blocking...probably are.
btw, allow me _itch about how OTC "shooting glasses" in gun stores, despite their price, are not really optically flat and seem to be made with a plastic which has rather poor light transmitting properties. Keep trying to replace my decades old yellow shooting glasses but keep being disappointing in the optical quality of what is out there in the stores.Comment
