    Need help on handgun.

    I have a NIB Colt Woodsman 4 1/2" Match Target barrel, I believe it's a 3rd generation pistol.

My problem is getting an accurate appraisal.

One shop told me $1,300, another $3,500 (maybe more).

Is there a place in SoCal where I can get an accurate price on this handgun.

    Thanks

You may be able to try the Blue Book of Gun Values to get an idea. Others will be able to comment on actual appraisers in your area.

You may want to look at Gunbroker and other sites. Also, verify year of manufacture - you can call Colt and they'll tell you (you give them model and serial number).

Sounds like a great pistol. I'm not too familiar with Woodsman - is yours the one with the "elephant ear" stocks? I don't remember which generation had those...

By the way, I assume you can verify it's NIB and therefore only fired at factory? Value is considerably higher for something in that condition (vs. a pistol that has been used).

      Good luck.

Mine does not have the elephant ears grips, I think those where gen 1?

I tried to confirm if the pistol was fired or not when the pistol was looked at, but the appraiser couldn't tell. He told me it looked liked it was never fired.

I wish I knew more about the history of this gun, but even on-line, and at gun shops around my area (LA/SFV), I'm only getting limited information on it's value, condition, etc.

You can get some general info about the Woodsman from the web. You can get year of manufacture by calling Colt.

          Good luck.
