When was your last range trip?

Its been a few months. Last time was when my girls mom came down from IL. We took her shooting and the lens cover on my scope broke. I guess that's what I get for trying to save money. Now I'm saving for the Eotech Exps-2.You gonna do something or just stand there and bleed - Wyatt EarpComment

Haven't been as much since I picked up golfing.Originally posted by MunkIf you have a metal box that has "Anthrax" written on the side, are you a terrorist? or just a fan of a great band?sigpic"Those who would ban extended magazines, will say that although hundreds of thousands are in circulation and thousands more will surely be sold before a ban is enacted, it will be worth it if it saves just one life. I went 3 weeks ago but it is hard cause I have alot of family that wants to go but nobody wants to pay ( or they can't) so it takes me awhile to take them out cause it gets expensiveComment

Is it the range fees that's expensive or the ammo?
If it's ammo, then there are some ways to cut that and still have as much fun: use .22LR, play games that emphasize on accuracy (e.g take turns shooting a small target and see who can hit it most).Comment

I try to go twice a month. If not at least once a month.Comment

I took my son to Lytle Creek on Labor Day. I used to go bi-monthly but with ammo prices being what they are now, I've had to cut back considerably.
Between me, my son and the range officers, I can easily go through 3K-4K of .308 and .223 each time out.Comment

Same here. Got into golf and stopped shooting for 2 years (didn't even miss it). Quit golfing and got into motorcycling and stopped shooting for 3 years.
The good thing about shooting is that you can always get back into it pretty easily... within a month and you've regained you old scores. Not the same for golf !Comment

Shucks, you should go to Coyote this Sunday for the Halloween potluck. I told the guys in the potato salad thread (lol) that I'm bringing the challenging tray! You don't have to shoot if money is the object, and you know the place is family-friendly. Come by just for some free chow!
Another Calgunner and his wife are expected to show up as my guests. She's very new to shooting, so I'm bringing my Steyr and Hammerli for her to try out. I reassured her that no one is a troll at the range and all the guys are nice
After all, they let me in!sigpic

Oh, you should bring your clubs too, so you can stroll across the road to the golf course. That's what my Better Half does when my matches are too long... bass tackle and other assorted non-shooting gear in the truck for him to kill time with.Same here. When I was in a 2-match event at Chabot, he ended up with a 4lbs trout. Broke his line and stole his lure

Thanks for the invite. Unforunately for me, it's not money that's preventing me from shooting. I quit motorcycling earlier this year and started to shoot again, and I over did it (was doing many matches and range trips, and some practice at home).Shucks, you should go to Coyote this Sunday for the Halloween potluck. In order for me to shoot that July silhouette match I had to promise the wife that I'll "quit" after that... I was hoping to shoot some ATA matches, but I didn't know "quit" was taken more for real than usual
So, I was able to negotiate a restart next year and 1 range trip every 3 months. Can't wait until 2011.

I think it was in JULY!!!!. But, I'm not answering this poll because, I'm not positive if the OP means trip to a real range or, trip to the desert (like the Barstow Zombie Shoot) or, just trip to go shooting. I think the last time I fired a shot was two weeks ago in my yard. Does that count?NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor
