Anyone been to an A's game armed?

Does anyone know what the policy is for the Oakland Coliseum regarding concealed carry? Especially as it applies to off duty LE? There website says that firearms are prohibited. But so are drugs and illegal fireworks. They didn't specify whether or not that applies to CCW holders or off duty LE (myself).

I DEFINITELY would not feel comfortable leaving a gun in my car there. Do they do a search/metal detector to get in? I haven't been there in ten years, so, I don't know what they are up to nowadays.

BTW, I emailed them this same question, but don't know what kind of generic answer they will send back.

There are no metal detectors and they won't pat you down or anything. If you bring a bag they will look in it for glass bottles. Just keep everything on your person and you will be fine.

They're really lax over there. Just don't bring a backpack or cooler and you'll be fine.

and don't look like you're going to start any problems. If you give them a reason to pat you down, they might. Of course, as LEO, you know this! Oakland Coliseum is patrolled by real LE, and two private security firms, one armed, one not.

Then again, if you're carrying legally, the most they can do if you're discovered is kick you out... unless there's some whacky Oakland ordinance forbidding legal carry of firearms in the Coliseum. On second thought, you might want to check on that.

If you are a LEO (off-duty) you should be able to carry with your credentials. I went with my CHP buddy to the Yankees game & he was packing but did not declare or look like he was trouble.

Personally think that the prohibition is more towards the gangbangers & not CCW or off duty LEO. It's really not that bad. There are always tons of people around & security is plentiful. Been going to the Coliseum for almost 15years, never had any issue at all.

It would be better if this was like Texas in this regard.

There they make it clear if you are allowed to carry concealed.

At my work it said "NO CONCEALED WEAPONS ALLOWED"

So naturally I carried my weapon in the open.
It was a refinery and they had a gun range. They had some kind of form you filled out that they put on file that allowed you to bring said listed firearms to work for shooting at the range or keeping in the car for the big Bubba gang hunt escapade after work. It was kind of like golf is in California in that you had to hunt or fish to get promoted where here you have to play a good game of golf but in the end ki$$ the bosses blarney stone to get that promotion.

The law in Texas was quite clear. If the owner of the property did not post a sign saying no concealed carry then that meant you could. Only exception was at places that served alcohol. If that is all they served you could not carry concealed. If they served dinner or peanuts then you had another reason to go so it was not an automatic exclusion zone.

I myself would not carry in such a crowded environment. You are only asking for trouble. There is plenty of LE and security if a shootout/mad rush of blood thirsty zombies was to occur. It is really to crowded of an environment for me to want to draw down on somebody. Guaranteed civilian casualty if you missed and maybe even if you hit if it goes through. Plus the pushing and shoving with people touching you in the crowd I would think it more likely that someone would grab your gun and shoot somebody than you needing it for your protection. It could only get you into trouble an at times you do run into the LE officer that does not have that brotherhood thing going on and wants to make a name for himself by snitching on a brother, in this case a pistol carrying brother.

I would even be leery about leaving it in the car because in some 20+ years of going to the coliseum for whatever the car I was in was broken into three times with the stereo always stolen and once the tires/rims being stolen. Now I always wondered what security thought about someone jacking up a car and removing all the tires and not thinking it suspicious.

For Raider games I know for a fact they use the detectors. All A's games I've been to I have not seen them use them, however....most of the games I've been to were either odd-houred or garbage games. Who knows what they'd have in store if the game had more meaning w/ better rivalry.

No, while the permit holder shouldn't be drinking themselves, there isn't a restriction on carrying where alcohol is served.

It's been a few years since I carried legally to a Raiders game. At that time they did a quick pat down so I carried, without a problem, in an ankle holster.
