I was one of them thought it was a ridiculous cartoon gun. Made fun of my friend for buying one. Then I borrowed his for a range trip. Now you won't catch me saying a bad thing about it. I loved shooting it. Way more accurate than I thought it would be. No jams but only had 100 rounds. Recoil wasn't bad.

Mortal as I am, I know that I am born for a day. But when I follow at my pleasure the serried multitude of the stars in their circular course, my feet no longer touch the earth.

I shot a DE in .44 magnum a year or so ago. As others have pointed out, this is a BIG gun. I think they weigh over 50 oz. and they're just plain large.
If I remember correctly, it operates on gas impingement, not on blowback. You may or may not consider this a good thing.
I like their looks and it felt good in the hand, and was fun to shoot. I don't know how practical they are, but if you want to fill an empty slot in your safe, you could do worse IMO.M. Zimmers

just a tad bit off-topic but I've been wanting to get the Micro Desert Eagle for a while now, finally checked the DOJ certified roster and it's not on it! Is that the end of dream as I'm not a LEO? Or is there another way of acquiring this firearm? Thanks in advance.Comment

Agent Smith uses one in the Matrix. Seems like a good enough reason to get one.

Desert Eagle is unique, it uses gas operating system, often cause of weak cycling due to weak ammo.
It is very finicky about it's ammo.
In 50AE, commercial ammo will cycle action reliably, and throw the brass far, often straight back (many times operator error).
In 44 mag, it's got to be hot enough to cycle action. I think same goes for 357 mag.
There were 41mag, 440 Corbon, but not in production anymore.
Many use it for hunting.
Yeah, it is big, often flash weapon. But it has its uses.
Caliber change from 50AE <=> 44 Mag, less than a minute.
50, 44 <=> 357 much longer due to bolt change.
Factory offers muzzle brake that look menacing. I think they charge $200 plus $10 shipping, you have to send in a barrel so they can drill tap and attach the brake.
Some have ported the barrel by MagnaPort.
I think that new model's barrel's have Picatiny rail milled onto it all the way, not just two slots. Haven't seen much pictures though.
I think it maybe too much for indoor ranges but definitely fun at outdoor ranges.
I wouldn't call it practical but intriguing.'Cuz big holes are easier to see.
You can correct my spelling and grammar error anytime.
I welcome it. How else would I learn.Comment
