    mini 30 pistol grip?

If i had a mini 30 with a pistol grip and a telescoping stock would it be legal to have the gun with pistol grip removed but still with the gun? For like if I was driving to go shooting.
I did search and found nothing
    Thanks

I wouldn't keep the grip with it. I wouldn't even keep it in your house. Seems the JBT's lately like to assemble stuff you have around into illegal assault weapons and charge you accordingly.

No No No No! For a variety of reasons...

I am assuming this rifle was not registered as an assault weapon in 2000.

Even w/pistol grip removed, the folding stock attached still makes it an assault weapon. A flash hider presents a similar condition.

While 'constructive possession' does not apply to separated AW components, having the stock & grip readily available for use in immediate proximity is way pushing things. I would not transport them whatsoever except entering/leaving state (because they are legal outside CA) - and even then, they are locked up separately. I would keep them locked separately at home, too, at some distance.

On a recent out of state I brought my Mini 14 fully assembled with the regular stock, factory folder separate in the car. Mech Tech was also brought along as was the fully assembled 1911.

Got out of state, switched the Ruger to folding stock & popped the 1911 on the Mech Tech. Reverse, head back to CA.

        Pushing it - yes, no?

well just so long as it was not capable of accepting a detachable mag... and never put a mag bigger than 10 rounds in it.. good luck loading it with a fixed mag... anyone make a mini14 bullet button?

iff you meet the first two conditions then yes you can have it... or just change the flash hinder to a compensator and buy a new stock on gunbroker under $100 shipped

Actually I have a mini14 with a fixed mag, its quite easy to load as the bolt locks open on the last round and it is simple to pop rounds in the top.

I had to fix a 10 rounder in place because it has a choate pistol grip stock and eagle flash hider on it.

my friend makes a component which allows you to replace the mag spring with a metal piece which securly locks the mag in place (although It doesn't change the overall appearance and is easily removabe if TSHTF

Frankly I'd keep the 'evil features' locked separately from the firearms.

I have a Mini 14 that I registered as an AW in 2000 because it had a flash hider on it. You can load your stock mini with all the 30 rd mags you want if you had them before the cutoff date.

IF IT IS A REGISTERED AW. think of it as a stag lower build. sam rules apply.. if you fix a 20 rounder to a satg with eviles, it is a aw in violation of sb23
