I used a crappy, pretty much broken simmons 3-9 power on my stock 10/22. You saw what that rifle looks like now, hopefully I get an even better score this time around.

I got my patch. did it with a scope. I came 4 points from it with my bolt action/irons but I just couldn't work that bolt fast enough. I'll probably go again eventually just because I know many people that still want to go. I'll try it with my sig 522 with irons.

I got the patch 2 years ago. I used an AR with an Eotech. It was an awesome experience.

There's one this next weekend but I haven't signed up for it... I only have a marlin 60, nothing fancy... So I wasn't sure if that was something I should take or would people laugh when I pull it out.

A Marlin slings lead downrange just fine. The skills they teach there are a lot more important than the rifle, just make sure you take a good shooting pad/blanket: lots of kneeling and laying prone.

I BARELY missed getting my patch but I learned a very valuable lesson in why you need to strip, clean and lube your gear. The .22 I borrowed gave me a lot of opportunities to practice clearing malfunctions...I'm actually glad it went that way, too. It's pretty intense to add malfunctions to a graded, timed exercise!

I tried with iron, but, they had a lot of things to fix with me (even my sling was backwards on my M1!). So, no badge for me, but, it was still a great experience.

I bought another 400 rounds of .30-06, and just need to find a free weekend to try again. Should do better the next time.

I went to the corona shoot last weekend and made the mistake of switching rifles on the 2nd day. I should have stuck it out with Colt 22, BUT! I did hit the red coats all the way to 400 yards with iron

Have fun at the shoot. On the first day you will find out that all of the bad habits you have picked up over the years will come out. Listen to what the instructors say and practice it. Soon you will find out that everything just comes naturally to you and you are a way much better shot
