Any good stores in orange county?

Hey guys, I'm planning on getting a 1911 real soon. It's going to be my first handgun so I'm pretty new to this. Are there any stores you guys recommend in the OC area?

Sorry if there are similar topics, I tried searching but couldn't find any relevant ones.

For shopping, Fowlers and the Stockade are the best. Don't buy from there though you'll pay through the roof. But for window shopping it's excellent.

Fowlers is on Tustin in Orange. The stockade is on Westminster and Beach.

Do you guys know any others? I'm looking for a place that is willing to help me get started. I've heard that Fowlers and Stockade have pretty bad customer service and I don't know where Holds gunsmith is.

OC Armory specializes more in black rifles but Mike and his crew are awesome and I'm sure they could find you what you want.

You have quite a few stores to check out:

Ade's is in Orange on Chapman (I'm not sure of the exact address - the store moved there recently.) Great service, though their old store had a smaller selection than I would have liked. This may have changed with the new location.

Field Time in Westminster. I like this place. I've never looked at their handguns but they seemed to have a large stock and they have always been 100% friendly. They are priced similarly to Fowler's, but they're so dang friendly I don't mind as much.

Fowler's isn't so bad. The prices are higher than they could be, and while customer service isn't superb, I have had multiple positive experiences there. A couple of the counter guys wouldn't know good service if it bit them in the butt, but there are also several folks who are very helpful.

Ammo Bros. in Cerritos. These guys are great, and I have had positive experiences with them. Probably better overall prices than Field Time, though Field Time is very friendly and for your first gun that might be worth the extra price. I only mention them fourth because you said Orange County and they are just across the county line.

OC Armory in Lake Forest. I mention this place only if you haven't heard of them before. Hands down the nicest, friendliest people, but they have very few handguns. I can't recommend you go there first but if you are ever in the market for a black rifle or tactical shotgun, they cannot be beat. Mike is very helpful if you ever decide to have a gun shipped in from out of state. I recommend checking out Bud's Gun Shop online. Great prices and easy to deal with.

I have also heard of Straightline Tactical and T&A Armory, but I've never been there so I can't say anything about them.

I think Diegodog is talking about Bolsa Gunsmithing in Westminster. While they seem to be good gunsmiths, and sell nice shotguns, I don't recall them carrying many pistols, and not many 1911's at all. They are close to Field Time so it can't hurt to check it out.

I say avoid Stockade they'll take advantage of you if you dont know anything. I was a complete noob when I went in to Stockade to buy a handgun. I wanted a 226 with night sights and the guy claimed the 226 had it for $900ish. I never seen or handled a gun with night sights but everyone recommended them to me. I confirmed with him if they had night sights and he said yes. I tried putting my hand over them to see if they would glow but he said it was still too bright to see them. I took his word for it and purchased it. I was friggin pissed when I found out he lied. If I wanted one without night sights I wouldve gone to Turners where they had it for $800. I learned my lesson...do research before purchasing anything.

I like Field Time Sports on Beach Blvd.

They have the best customer service of any gun store I have ever walked in to. Their prices aren't exactly the lowest you can find, but I would rather spend an extra $50 on an $800 gun in exchange for not being treated poorly. **cough**Turner's**cough**

Bottom line is I go out of my way to go to Field Time because they are that much better.

The Stockade and Fowlers are only to window shop and handle, since they have the largest 1911 selection in Orange County. Don't buy from them, their prices are astronomical.
