I feel like a total downer making this my first post, but ya gotta start somewhere...Anyways, this went down across the street from my house the other night. The house in question is a low-end college rental, this was probably their dealer (domestic dispute, ha). Fortunately, I wasn't home.
SANTA CRUZ - A 20-year-old Santa Cruz man remained in custody Monday after police reportedly found a loaded gun, cash and five types of drugs in his Morrissey Boulevard home Friday while investigating a shooting early that morning in the Seabright area.
Jose Enriquez Ramirez was arrested after detectives conducted a probation search the home on the 1100 block in a follow-up to a shooting outside a party on Pennsylvania Avenue about 2:10 a.m. Friday, police said.
Investigators reported finding a loaded handgun, ammunition, about $600 in cash, four grams of methamphetamine, 32 grams of cocaine, more than 200 ecstasy pills, prescription medication and marijuana in the residence. They also found evidence of drug sales, officers said.
Ramirez was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs for sale, possession of narcotics with a loaded firearm, possession of narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school and for a probation violation.
Police suspect the gun was the same one used at the shooting.
That incident occurred near Pennsylvania Avenue and Broadway outside a party, and no one was injured. Police found two bullet holes in a parked car, which belonged to someone who lives there, police spokesman Zach Friend said.
Investigators said they believed the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute.
