Body Armor at a Shooting Range?

    Is this legal?

If so, anyone wear a plate carrier/vest while at a public range?

Of course it's legal, why wouldn't it be? You'd get some weird looks, but it's not illegal.

Of course it's legal. Of course the management can always kick you out for doing so.

I've only worn plates/vest during classes only because I don't "know" the capabilities of the shooters around me.

Square range I do not... unless that range is Burro.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

Because this is CA, and the simple thought of protecting myself in a shooting range seems too basic for our lawmakers to accept

That makes sense. Well, as much as it can. But it's still not illegal, so you're golden.

If I could afford it I would ware it! You should never be looked at poorly for thinking of safety. Have you seen some of those newbees at the ranges? Frankly it scares the @#$% out of me. You may want to spend the money on a fitted vest, but it will cost you.

The gun craze has caught on like a wild fire. This means nearly all ranges are filled to the brim with newbie inexperienced gun owners. Thats like driving down the 5 freeway with every car being driven by a 16 year old...and you know they all think they know what they're doing. Would be wise to bring a vest if you can afford to.

I dont see why it would be illegal but it would look funny wearing a carrier on you unless you're participating in a class IMHO..

LOL that is EPIC, although in a sad way... oh well, SAD LULZ

In all seriousness though, I am now on the side that Body Armor at the range is a MUST. My preferred range is Burro, and I have to admit, there are ALOT of inexperienced shooters there (yes, I am one of them). But, I adhere to redundant safety precautions, and I NEVER dryfire my firearms until I check magazines, leave action open, do a finger check, and look down the barrel and see the hammer or pin hole (with safety on), AND always point the muzzle in a non-hazardous direction when dryfiring, even when I *know* it's not loaded.
