My first 1911

Well I take delivery on the 19th of October. For the longest time I have always wanted a 1911 ACP 45.
I went down to Sportsman Supply in Campbell. My favorite gunstore. There was Brandon.
I say, I am not walking out of here without a reciept. I'm looking through the guncase and I'm drooling. OK, pull out the Les Baer, let me see that Kimber, which was my first choice. I really wanted the Elite Target II. But Kimber didnt present that particular one for the dreaded CA drop test. And I wont go any further than that. You all know the routine. Then there was the third one which was a Springfield TRP. All very sweet. Couldnt decide. The forth one kinda hiden from view was a Colt Government.
There were a variety of reasons why I finally made the choice. But to every bodies surprize, I know own two ponies in my stable. One a Mustang GT, and Two, as the quote goes, "If its not a Colt, Its a copy". I'm probably gonna get flamed for the choice I made. It was the least expensive of the others. As much as I wanted that other Kimber. Went to the gun range Sunday, talking to a few few people, all saying, I made a fine choice. Makes me happy. Give me your take.

I do not understand your meaning. 1) A matter of time as far as Quality of the Colt breaking down. 2) Or others eliminating from thier drop test and me missing out owning more than 1911?

I think he means you will be buying more 1911s. Once you have one, you dont stop buying them.

You are absolutely right. I am excited about finaly saying I now own a 1911. But I am also a defendant. I have read some bad reviews about the Colt. But than again, I have talked to a few people that own them. And they have a love affair with them. I'm sorry if I came across as being high strung.

I never wanted a 1911, then I bought one, now I have 6. It's like .......... can't have to much of a good thing, and with all the flavors out there you'll need a bigger safe.

Don't worry about bad reviews about the Colt since every gun sooner or later gets a bad review.
My Colt was born in 1918 she has gone through two World Wars and three major overhauls not bad for a 92 year old gun. The M1911 is my favorite gun to shoot in IDPA and the Steel Challenge.

The reviews I got were the ones from 1991. To protect the author I will not mention his name. But because I guess he has had 1st hand experience, he claims deep gouges in mag wells, spring tunnels machined uneven. Sent back to factory and returned with more issues. But I kinda heard the same from those older ones of 1991 era. But the ones a decade later (now) the new ones are supposed to be fixed and are more superior.
