    Posting Firearm Photos on Internet?

I did not find a topic on this but I am wondering what peoples thoughts are on posting photos of your firearm's online? I was thinking of posting some photos of my AR-15 along with a few other items on Facebook but then thought what if any repercussions I might face down the line weather it be LEO, or a possible employer etc. Everything I own is 100% legal its more the what if questions. A buddy of mine had mentioned that police were arresting people for posting photos of weapons online "probably illegal". So what is everyone's thoughts on this topic?

My default picture on facebook is me with my AR. I've had it up for about a year and no problem

Facebook open to the public, not for me. On calguns, yes. I know calguns is open to the public, but we are a gun forum, it is expected.

That's a Glock 7. "That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me, you know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn't show up on your airport metal detectors and probably costs more than what you make in a month." straight from Die Hard.

A: I don't have a facebook/myspace/etc account. Having guns on a profile on a website tied to your name isn't likely to be an issue, having your boss know you were out partying on a day you called in sick is. I keep my work/personal lives separate. Any of my friends know how to get in touch with me via phone or email, don't need a silly website for that.

B: I don't like posting pictures of my guns, or anything of any value I own, or even myself on the internet. I don't need some random person I don't know, knowing the entire inventory of my home because I decided to post pics of everything online. This doesn't have anything to do so much with being paranoid, it's just nobodies business except my acquaintances or my own, so there's no reason to advertise.

the black helicopters are watching you

your facebook account can be set to be veiwed by only your friends.

if the cops have reason to look at the stuff you own, they sure as hell wont be looking on your facebook.

I joined a couple of firearms-related groups on facebook. Shortly afterwards my friends list got smaller. Oh well ...

If you have a very transparent social networking page, or easily trackable page, then yes I would question the judgement of posting firearm photos.

But for posting on CG where a username like "creampuff" is probably not going to link immediately to the original poster - I can't see any harm.
