    Any guns still quality made?

The more I learn and hear about newly made guns, the more it seems that the manufacturers are implementing all kinds of cost saving practices resulting in plastic components and just cheaper quality firearms overall.
I've always leaned toward 1911s, HKs and Sigs due in large part to reputations for quality. But I've had issues with newer models that begs the question.
Any major manufacturers still making high quality firearms?
General discussion on the subject welcome too.

Just depends on how much you want to pay. Stay with the smaller companies and you will usually get a better company. Granted they will be much more money than the mass produced. Look at freedom arms or usfa for a single action revolver.

I haven't noticed or had any quality issues with any of my firearms. All I know is that S&W and Springfield have full lifetime warranties on them, which is saying something in this day and age of 1 year warranties.

Thank you. I've been pricing single actions. Those look pretty sweet!

If they are newer production, you're fortunate

regarding semi auto handguns; i prefer my older w german P series Sigs.

i believe there are good handguns coming off the assembly line today; my taste keeps me with the no frills, no whistles and bells... older Sigs.

There's an awful lot of Glock bs out there. That being said, in 50 years, people will probably be looking at that old Glock 17 saying, "they sure don't make em like that anymore." Just like we do now with the older quality handguns.

Sounds like you already know about the matter, or your mind is made up, making your original question rhetorical, but I will bite.

                Yes there are.

Glock is like Mac products. They're common, robust, and functional. You either love or hate it, and the biggest critics don't own one

With the bigger companies I believe there are transitional periods when quality control is good & not so good. Colt went through a period in the 70's when labor unrest put out poorer quality firearms. S & W did also. With modern day CNC machining & computer controlled tooling & inspection, you have less chance of really poor quality.
UNLESS it is a management decision to drastically cut quality for cost. If you've noticed
certain products have a planned obsolescence built in to them. I remember when refridgerators used to last 30 years, now they barely last 10 or 12.

^ Les Baer is top notch, I have shot a 1000 rounds thru mine and it is still too tight.

In general...and having taught the use of firearms for a nominal 40 years...
guns are better made and more accurate than ever...

being a steel and wood kinda guy....and keep that in mind...

I won a remington shotgun at a NRA dinner...a plastic coated piece of "Junk" was my assessment when looking at it.. it went off when the trigger was pressed during the obligatory 3 rounds I put through it on a steel target at the range on the way home from picking it up....hohum...

when I took the barrel off to put it in my safe...it was too long to fit in the corner where I wanted to stuff it....the forend/pump arm came off...was a complete fatherlesschild to put back on...sat in the safe...disdain abounded...you have to be careful about pushing the pump arm release and racking the slide back or it will break your fingers...disdain....

then I took it out dove hunting....couldn't miss...had my best shoot in years...the stupid thing must just fit...and it handled very very well in the field and it was hot and sweaty so...guess what...no rust...as it is completely plastic coated...,hmmmmm.....shot so many doves I just stood by and backed up JR. who was not so much shooting well.....

so...now I'm very satisfied with my plastic wonder and looking forward to goose hunting with it this winter...

                          go figure...

for carry however... I carry/shoot this off duty....

and yes it was loaded when I took the picture........geez....
