Pair pleads not guilty in Mexico weapons sting

Apparently these two have not seen any of the reports from the ATF or the Mayors Against Illegal Guns and did not know that you can simply walk into any gun store near the border and buy as many machine guns and grenades as you want. That is what they are always reporting, isn't it?

IMPERIAL COUNTY — Two Imperial County men pleaded not guilty Friday to charges that they tried to purchase grenade launchers, high-explosive grenades and an M-4 rifle from undercover federal agents.

The weaponry was destined for Mexico, according to federal authorities, though they would not say if it was supposed to be deployed in the increasingly violent drug wars between cartels and the Mexican government....

.....Investigators found 209 pounds of marijuana along with 50 Kevlar helmets, 26 bulletproof vests and 52 trauma insert plates used in body armor. The body armor was allegedly destined for Mexico and was seized for further investigation.

....After getting consent to search, investigators didn't find any drugs but found 40 AK-47 rifles in the Jetta. Seven military ballistic vests were also seized. Documents stated the rifles were shipped from Century Arms Inc. in Vermont.

The commandos then entered the arsenal after breaking 2 locks to get through the steel doors. They took 43 H&K G36 assault rifles (.223 caliber), 26 9mm pistols, bulletproof vests & grenades.
