Minimum Number of Posts For Marketplace Access?

How many members here would like to have a minimum number of posts needed before a new member can start selling/buying or have access to the marketplace forums to avoid flake buyers and sellers? I think it's a good idea. Might help new members get the hang of the rules, meet other members, and hopefully will make them stay longer than just to sell/buy and get out. Mods do with this thread/poll as you will.

yea actually i had this though recently. I think there is alot of validity to the logic behind this idea. We get "random googler" looking to sell or buy something. Make account and go straight to selling without reading the rules. The fix I think is two fold.

1st- do as you suggest and create a minimum post count to use the sales section (nothing extreme in my mind, maybe 25 posts or so?.

2nd- Have rules about location being in thread, and prices attached on first post, or it gets deleted. (too harsh?)

      All post counts will do
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

you know you can have a self imposed minimum post rule. You could choose not to deal with anyone that has less than 10000 posts if you wish. .

Yeah I know what you mean already that's why I put substantial posts, but I guess there is no way to monitor or regulate that unless mods have to review posts before granting access. More work for them to do. Just a discussion, head janitor can do whatever he likes but this helps them have some feedback.

I wish I could suggest something but I'm not sure what would work. Hell I just had a guy with 0 posts take up a week of my time acting like he wanted my AK only to back out less than 24 hrs from our meet-up time ><

Some people just have an account to use the marketplace and don't want to take part in our trite discussions

I understand your concern/frustration, BigBoyPinoy, but it's too easy to pad one's post count to make that a reliable gauge of Marketplace "sincerity".
Even if Kestryll decided to charge a fee for access to the Marketplace, that wouldn't prevent someone from paying what would probably be a nominal sum and then fleecing/flaking on members all under the guise of having been vetted by CGN because he paid the fee. (See how messy it gets? Really, "caveat emptor" is the best solution, even though it's also a PITA.) jmho

I have never sold anything here but have had a few sellers not honor their part of the deal....so how would you rate that?

I belong to other forums that require minimum posts to access the "Market place", and in theory it's a decent idea. However, as Rythm pointed out......it fails to stop the most ardent of buyers or sellers. So I've never been a big fan of needing "X" amount of posts to access such threads.
Plus, I originally came over here when told by someone at another forum that a member here had a gun I was looking for! And I thought our transaction went smoothly.
And if there would've been a post count needed to access that gun I can garuntee you that I would've gained those posts with somewhat viable posts very quickly!

I vote that you have to attain at minimum, "Calguns Addict."
