    Do I Need FFL to Ship a Rifle...

    quick question...
    i'm selling a rifle to someone in CA. can i ship the rifle directly to his FFL or do i need to find a local FFL to do that?

    Legally, there is no problem. However, his FFL must be willing to accept a firearm from a non-FFL. Check first.

      This is correct. You can also ship a rifle through the post office with a declaration saying the rifle is unloaded. Make sure to call your local post office to let them know what you will be doing and know the regulation number allowing a longarm to be shipped so that way when you go to ship the wait won't be bad. Usually post offices in urban areas take longer and need more guidance in the issue.

        is there any surcharge for firearm shipping from either usps or private companies like fedex or ups

          No surcharge, but it does help to have the regs handy. In state, you don't need to send or receive from an FFL and many clerks are not clear on this.
