Nope. You can make it as evil as you like as long as you don't SBR it etc.WTS all BNIB: Colt S70 Repro, HK45c, Gen4 G19 -

My RAW FAL had a Sporter barrel, after I registered it I threaded the barrel for a flash hider.Comment

Threaded barrel isn't considered an evil feature on a rifle anyway.Comment

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Why would you want to make it non-AW except maybe to sell?WTS all BNIB: Colt S70 Repro, HK45c, Gen4 G19Comment

Non-RAW would have benefits when transporting. RAWs have to be always transported in a locked case, can only be fired at places with specific permission to do so, and can only be transported to/from the location you would be shooting at (IE no stopping at Safeway on the way home first).Comment

But you don't need bullet buttons/featureless, etc.? Depending on the type of AW, I would imagine keeping it as is would be ideal and not too much more of a hassle.WTS all BNIB: Colt S70 Repro, HK45c, Gen4 G19Comment

De-registering would make selling it less of a hassle. You could sell it in-state, or sell it out of state without going through an AW FFL.
De-registering may or may not create a bullet button/featureless requirement, depending on what type of rifle you're talking about. For an AR, yes. For an M1A, no. Depends on the features.Comment
