    Gun Safe Question?

I am looking to purchase a gun safe. I need one which can hold several rifles and can fit in my condo closet. I also would like to spend less than $500. I do not know anything about safe's so I am wondering what you guys recommend.

Can you go to $600? This safe from Costco is on sale.

I bough a CA approved "safe" from wal-mart for $279 to my door. I'm satisfied with it. Hold 9 long guns and 10 pistols very nicely

Somewhat more info is in the forum for safes -
Accessories: Holsters, Safes, Locks & more

Granted, it's pretty far down on the front page, but it's worth looking for.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Just make sure you bolt it to the floor - it's not too big to haul away. Preferably, put it in a corner so that the left side and back are against a wall to thwart a prybar attack. Also, think about disguising the safe as well.

The $600 safe is decent. I have a Winchester that is a virtual clone of it.

Just a note on it however. It is not drop rated nor is it fire rated by an external tester. A 30 min 1200 degree rating can mean a lot of things. So take into consideration what type of fire damage would be likely if there was one. I live down the street from a fire station in a single story house, there are good firewalls between the garage / kitchen and where I have my safe, and the safes contents are not extremely valuable. If you plan to use it for documents, I'd suggest a secondary fire box inside the safe.

If the fire rating, or drop rating mean little to nothing to you, then I'd suggest looking at stack on gun cabinets. The steel used is about the same and they would be a couple hundred dollars at the most.

When my Costco safe arrives, I'll have a Sentry safe for sale.
