not a "ak-47"

was at a gun shop today and saw what looks like a ak-47...but it is a pump? (had another name on it) i did read something about cuba having this. is it for real...or could it be made to work like a real ak-47 semiauto rifle??

It's a PARA-1 pump cation AK47. Personally, I would not bother converting one to semi auto. It's almost as easy to just build a new one. But, if you really want to convert one, you need to replace the entire front assembly.

I saw one in the private sales section here just recently. Cool thing about it is you can go with any AW feature, 26" OAL, any (legally owned) mag capacity, and no BB!

It is still there and has been for a few months that I know of! Not saying it isn't worth it or a Relic or such....but the feel seems to be not so disireable! Though I think it is cool and neat I have no need for it at this time!

Well, replace the front end with a romy-g and you have a nice all romy gun . . . a little better than a WASR . . . depending on the builder of course.

Doesn't look too bad. What's it look like under that hanguard? I remember looking at one for a second and that was before I dove headfirst into building.


Looks like turning will be involved for sure, nothing that I haven't done before.

Actually, it's a fairly easy looking conversion. Here is a PAR-1 that was converted to semi-auto by Grammaton76. It only requires, an AK bolt carrier, gas tube, AK handguard & retainer, 922(r) parts, and a gas port hole drilled: http://thegunwiki.com/Gunwiki/RecModsParOne

Yep. Next time we get together, you can shoot mine. I just got it at my last big build party. That's the gun an 07FFL buddy of mine PPTed to me in my garage. Of course, he took it home and babysat it for over ten days after we did the paperwork. He had never seen one before and would not have done the PPT unless, he saw me fire it to confirm that it was not a SA rifle.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that these PARA-1s have even thinner barrels than the std WASRs.

I dunno if it would be worth the conversion.
