Parents, children, grandparents, grandchildren. It has to be direct family, ie up or down the line.Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

Not when he lives in a different state. For a Washington resident to sell a gun to a California resident (family lineage does not matter at all) it has to go through an FFL. A California FFL will not accept an off list pistol, so its a no-go. The only legal way to get that gun would be if someone bought it out of state, then moved to California, became a California resident, then sold it to a California resident and did a Private Party Transfer at an FFL.Comment

Im pretty sure the direct line statement is accurate, and I am pretty sure that if your direct family came to the state, you could transfer it via ffl. There's a sticky somewhere, try and find it!Comment

From my reading on calguns you can do the interfamilial transfer (parent/child, grandparent/grandchild) and not worry about the roster. But since it's interstate it does have to go through an FFL. It appears to all be legal but I suspect the trick is finding an FFL willing to do this.
It would be a lot easier if your Uncle was also your Father.

To clarify: your father could interstate interfamily transfer you a non-roster hangun. Your uncle can NOT.
Hope this helps.

FUD. Intrafamilial transfers are roster exempt. Technically, and legally, if your dad, mom, grandfather or grandmother were to buy an XDM, they could transfer it to you, through any CA FFL, and it's 100% legal. Also, *any* FFL can accept *any* off roster pistol, as long as it's not in AW status. Not when he lives in a different state. So if I have a friend moving to California, and he owns one, he can transfer that firearm to me? Thanks for all your answers guys!Comment

But the original posters question is not a Intrafamilial issue. Being an uncle is the same as being a total stranger, in this issue. If I am incorrect on the CA FFL's accepting off list pistols, I stand corrected.

Yes, after he become a CA citizen, and registers the pistol and pays the $19 he would be required to do when bringing a pistol into CA. Then you could buy it, do a PPT and your good to go.Comment

The original post was about an uncle, which doesn't fall under intrafamilial transfer, however, I covered what is legal. We accept off roster pistols all the time, hell, I've got 3 LCPs in the shop right now, how do you think cops get all the goodies that they're allowed due to being so much better than us normies. (note, not a cop bash, it's a "retarded CA legislature" bash.)My posts are my own opinion and reflect no official positions of anyone other than myself.Comment

@The OP, where are you located? Valkyrie Arms in Milpitas is doing off-roster stuff. Utilizing the single shot exemption. Norse Armory in Woodland too."No posts of mine on Calguns are to be construed as
