    HD Ammo for .38 Snub

I have been looking for some good HD ammo for a .38 snubbie, 2" barrel. I had decided on the Hornady Critical Defense but the Turners and BPS are always out. They have the +P but not the standard loads that I want. +P rounds are a bit hard to control for my other half in this is a 5 round, light revolver.

So what else is equal or better and where is a good place to buy in the SGV or IE?

BTW, it was good to see that Rancho Bass Pro Shops has a ton of .22lr of most bulk brands and some other various match grade at decent prices if anyone is looking for it. Also a good supply of all ammo in general.

Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 135gr.

If you can't find any, and you're really in need of some, I'll sell you 5rds out of my wife's 20rd box. I'm in Monrovia.

I like Winchester 110gr silvertips in my S&W 642. Recoil is very mild enough to allow fast follow up shots and accuracy is good. Price is around $35 for a box of 50

In-depth look at the ballistics of the .38 Special from snubnose revolvers.

        Donny1,

My experience has been to use the lightest grain bullet possible in +P form to handle severe recoil. Nowa days there's alot of good hollowpoint ammo that NOT loaded to +P pressures so consider that.

I've had bad comments on my personal ammo I use and test twice per year at the range. Remember PMC "Tubular"???? No recoil at all from this but yeah I know they don't make it anymore. I have a big lot of it when Turner's had a super sale per box of 50 rounds was only about $6 bucks cuz they just wanted to get rid of it. As a house gun my 2" Taurus "lie weight" suites me fine.
