Where to get a nice AK in Cali

I don't want the 349 special piece of junk at Big 5. I would be willing to spend a little more to get a better made higher quality AK when I finally have the funds to do so. Who here knows a good place to get one that is Cali legal?

Find a builder out of state, give them parts kits, they do wonders, then ship back to your FFL

Like always, be prepared to pay BIG bucks for anything like this since its CA, unless you build your own.

Am I right to believe that the only mod needed is a bullet button and barrel of 16 inches or more to be California legal? If so, I may just try to get my pops to give me his in Utah and convert it before coming back. Thoughts?

Instead order the parts to build one and attend a build party. You don't have to know squat about how to build, there will be enough builders there to instruct you how to do everything.

There are a couple nice ones in the fs section. Try searching arsenal or 7.62x39 and a few nice ones will pop up.

Henderson Defense might be your best option, they're not in CA but they advertise here and they're very CA friendly. More importantly, they actually inspect what they ship out so you're less likely to get some junked up piece of garbage with canted sights.

Why go out of state? There are a couple of places in CA that build a fine example of an AK.
