    Applying for COE.

I went to apply for my COE had my livescan done and the girl says it is $88.00.I said why an extra 22.00?She tells me and I look at her computer it is collecting 22.00 doj fee.I call Sacramento and speak to a representative she asks a supervisor and calls me back.No one was aware they are collecting the fee you normally mail in with application so I dont have to send it anymore through the mail. Also the address I had from the internet is now different.Applications now get mailed to
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE BUREAU OF FIREARMS-COE
    P.O. BOX 160367
    SACRAMENTO,CA
    95816-0367.

I just thought this might be helpful for the next guy applying and wondering why the fee at the livescan is more expensive. They are just collecting the 22 dollar fee there rather than mailing in fee.

I have had mine for over 3 years, I don't remember how I did it the first time. About 2 months before the year is up, they send out a notice for you to pay again to keep your COE. I had decided not to renew my COE and 03 when they came due. At the last minute I changed my mind. Sent both back about a week before the due date. A few weeks later I got them. I thought I waited too long but I didn't.

Sure it wasn't a live scan operator fee?

      Application For Certificate of Eligibility

      FINGERPRINT SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
You must submit your fingerprint impressions before submitting this application form to the Department of Justice (DOJ). To submit fingerprint impressions, you must take a completed Request for Live Scan Service form (BCII 8016) to a Live Scan station. Please refer to www.ag.ca.gov/fingerprints for Live Scan station location information. Have the Live Scan station submit your fingerprint impressions to both DOJ and FBI. You must pay the Live Scan operator a $32 DOJ fingerprint processing fee, a $19 FBI fingerprint processing fee, as well as the Live Scan operator's fee (Note: the Live Scan operator fee varies by Live Scan site, and the Firearms Division does not regulate or set this price).

The live scan operator fee is 15 the fbi was 19 and Doj 32. The computer automatically added the $22 fee to make $88.00.

I called Sacramento DOJ and they verified the computer now collects the COE $22 fee normally mailed in.It has just been implemented as well as the change of address to send in the application.

The forms in the DOJ COE website downloads were incorrect addresses now they have to update to the above listed address confirmed to me by the representative in Sacramento DOJ.

Good luck,it IS the waiting that's the hardest part. The paper work after getting the correct new info, and fingerprinting was pretty easy.Wish you the best.

COE is really great, alot of effort to get initially, but very easy every year to renew with CA DOJ. Most importantly with 03FFL and COE you can DROS C&R pistols and walk out with them!

And come February, if AB962 isn't blocked, J&G Sales in Prescott said they will honor the C&R + COE exemption and ship handgun ammo.

no, the COE (even with a C&R FFL) does not exempt you from the roster.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I got my coe Sept 20 and it wasn't collected at time of the live scan. Heck, DOJ hasn't even cashed my check for $22 yet either.
