    XDm 9mm Registration

Question... if I'm able to register an XDm 9mm in California, does that automatically makes that pistol's magazines legal to own and use? I'm asking because I'll be relocating to California in the near future (job related) and I'm wondering about rules on high cap mags and the XDm. BTW, I'm not LEO.

The mags are not the same as the gun. The law makes it illegal to import high cap mags, it doesn't matter what gun you have them for on or off roster gun.

Within 60 days of establishing residency in CA, you have to register all the handguns you bring with you to CA.

You can not bring any large capacity magazines with you to CA.

However, prior to coming to CA, you can dissassemble your large capacity magazines into parts. You can then legally bring those parts to CA and then assemble those parts into permanent 10 round magazines or keep them as parts & never assemble them while in CA.

      Since you own a XDm...
This webpage has step by step instructions on how to convert your large capacity XDm magazines into permanent 10 round XDm magazines.
You will need to do this, if you want useable XDm magazines in CA.
