this story gets worse and worse.
I can't even begin to imagine the horror of these events.

the police do no protect us people! not only are they UNABLE to do so, but they simply REFUSE to do so as well!
you don't rise to the occasion,
you just fall back on your level of training.

I hope they don't get the DP, general population would be the correct sentence for these two

What a sad story. Hope those animals suffer for what they did.

Crap like this I wish I was religious, then I can believe those scumbags will spend eternity getting @$$ raped by the minions of hell, or something close to it. But since I'm not I'm rooting for the death penalty, hopefully the electric chair if we still have it.

Its unfortunate that that family was killed. Hopefully this will serve as a situation we learn from.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Doesn't "taking a hostage = an act of violence" at least on some level?

Yes...and that lesson is "you always need to be ready to act in your own defense."

My heart goes out for Dr. William Petit, I can't even begin to comprehend what he must be going through. I've told my wife when I was watching the movie Law abiding citizen that there are worst fates then death. This is one of them.
