Over the years I have found myself bouncing between Conservatives and Liberals and what actually surprises me is how much common ground there really is.
You get that way when you are a "Pink Pistols" coordinator and you are in the crossfire between both sides of the Political Spectrum.
Gun Rights are as solid as they are going to be on the Political right. It is easy to preach to the choir.
What I am going to propose is doing something more bolder, that is going into percieved "Hostile Territory".
I say percieved because 28 of us marched in the SF Pride Parade this year chanting "Armed Gays don't get bashed" and rather than getting booed, we got cheered.
A pro gun, pro self defense message was well recieved in San Francisco. We have a long way to go, but that is progress.
We have an election coming up, that means we have a short term opportunity to reach people while they are "hot".
I am looking for a few leaders, people who have some real "balls" and that includes "women" and others to go well outside of the "Choir".
This will involve investing some time and probably a few dollars for incidentals.
If you are a Social Conservative who believes that society has the right to regulate people's private lives, what I propose is probably not for you.
If you are a blind republican who is going to support Meg Whitman, this is not for you. If you trully are a conservative/libertarian, then vote 3rd party btw.
The people I am looking for would be Libertarian and Social Liberals who not only support gun rights, but all rights.
I am taking some time off from my job in OCT for this project, I wish I could have taken the whole month, but that is life.
Calguns is not just in the SF Bay area and southern Ca. It is all over the state.
Because we are all over, we can make a difference.
A few hours of your time will be well invested time. What we are doing is planting seeds to secure not only our gun rights, but all rights.
I don't want this thread dropping into a childish flame war, so I will end it by saying the following.
We have the opportunity to bring many people on the political Left onto our side not only on just guns, but on state's rights as well.
The opportunity will bring people from the Left on board to work with us to not only protect our 2nd amendment rights, but to actually restore the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th amendments of the bill of rights and to work on restoring the "Commerce Clause" of the US Constitution back to Original intent.
It is the expansive use of the "Commerce Clause" that the Federal government uses to get itself into our lives.
Ideally I would like to find people who could commit alot of time, but every bit helps. I would be happy with lots of Indians who would do just some specific tasks.
