Single vs. Two stage trigger. What's the difference?

I'm looking into getting the Wilson Combat tactical
trigger Unit. They have single and two stage models. Just wondering what's the difference and what purpose each is designed for?

Well on the AR the single stage is supposted to have ZERO travel between the sear and the hammer-can cause you to tense up prematurly.

The two-stage has a little travel and then the disconnect-it is A) a much smoother feel and B) gives you a much better idea of when the hammer is going to drop so you can compensate.

On my plinking rifles I always use single stage no reason to go through the added expense. On my varmenter I put a double for control.
