    Positive Gun Store Experience

For all the negative stories about terrible gun shop experiences I figured I would let you know that it doesn't have to be that way.

I stopped by Turners in WC today to browse. I go there often and most of the guys there recognize me as not being a complete idiot so therefore they treat me decent and don't do too much to piss me off. But they cant seem to ever be 100% consistent. I was asking one of the guys about some cleaning products and I have never met him before. Here it comes, the condescending attitude and shortness, and the general feeling he didn't want to be bothered. No big deal, he wasn't outright rude so I let it go.

When I leave I headed north up Azusa Ave and on the next block I pass a sign that that says GUNS, it's yellow and spinning and it says GUNS! So naturally I circle the block to see what store it was. Alamo Jewelry & Loan is the store. From the minute I walked in I could tell they appreciated my presence in their store. I was acknowledged right away even though they had other customers. They were very friendly and down to earth. They answered ALL my question and were absolutely sure they had addressed all my interests before they were satisfied with the level of service I received. This all AFTER I explained I could not purchase any of the pistols I wanted to look at because of the 30 day rule.

By far the best gun store experience ever! They have a decent selection of new and used. Also, they said they would match Turners prices or an online purchase I was considering. Oh, also they frequent calguns.

The West Covina Turners has a decent selection. I like most of the employees in there. There is one in particular I do not care to be near, but out of respect to him I will not name him.

Well I imagine they do. He said he would do out of state for $85 including DROS. I don't see why they wouldn't do PPT.

i recently bought a 1965 Remington Wingmaster from a dealer on Gunbroker. i did the transfer through Alamo... because of good feedback i read here on Calguns.

the experience was a very positive one. the folks at Alamo treated me well over the phone, and treated me well in person.

the cost from Alamo was $85.00 out the door; same price they quoted over the phone.

i also was iimpressed with their in stock inventory of guns. their internet site gives a good idea of what to expect should you walk into their little shop. they have new and used guns and i was surprised to see they had Remington Golden Saber hp ammo at competitive prices.

my experience on the one transaction and multiple conversations i had with these folks... gives them an A+.

These are the type of posts that I love to read. I feel it is important to warn fellow CGers of poor experiences with shops / sellers as well as to commend shops that are fair dealing. I do not need a shop to roll out a red carpet but I do expect them to appreciate my patronage and treat me with the same respect that they would like to have reciprocated. Two shops that I have dealt with recently have demonstrated these qualities in spades. Both HK Parts and Hinterland Outfitters are establishments that I would recommend to all. Both had fair prices, were very knowledgeable, quick to respond to emails, and above all else they never gave me the sense that I was wasting their time with questions and concerns about products before making a purchase. I am ridiculously anal about loose parts banging around and beating up weapons while in transit. I insist that loose parts be securely tapped or fixed inside the package in order to avoid this. Brett at Hinterland fully understood my concern as it is also one of his concerns and he assured me that he would ensure that this precaution was taken. Customer service like this is very very important to me.

I took an out of state friend to Martin Retting a couple of days ago. I talked to at least three different clerks, they were all friendly and helpful. I bought nothing and my friend spent around $150.
