recieving gun from mom in oregon

What are the legalities. Do I just ppt, or what. Do long guns differ from handguns. And what is the waiting period in oregon.
Why is everything good???? Illegal, Immoral, fattening???

it must be transfered through a CA FFL to comply with federal law. A PPT transfer is only when both parties are CA-residents who go to the same FFL to do the transfer, no shipping allowed for a PPT. Same rules apply for handguns as well as long guns.

not sure what laws OR have regarding waiting periods. It doesn't matter for you since you will need to wait the 10-days to get it out of jail from your local FFL.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

no, handguns coming from a parent do not need to be on the list, since it is a roster-exempt intrafamily transfer. but in order to satisfy federal law, it needs to go through a CA FFL. Finding a CA FFL that understands the intrafamily exemption, and how it interacts with an interstate transfer may be difficult. Not all FFLs understand the exemption, and how to properly DROS the handgun
