Transfer rifle to my son question

So I'd like to give a rifle to my son but when I look at the DOJ interfamily transfer form it says handgun. Am I missing something?

Don't need any paperwork for a long gun.

Pull the seal off and screw the lid back on.

There are no reporting requirements required under California law when a father transfers a long gun to his son.

So I can just hand him the rifle and be done with it?

If you are both California residents, then yes.

Good to know with the new possible registration scheme. I just might buy one rifle for each of my kids.
