I'd hate to be a guy with a truck or SUV and not know any better:
Besides having a school in the church who's parking lot is being used, the location is very close to Bransford Elementary. Google maps measurement (which is obviously not exact) was right around 1000ft from the SW corner of the church's parking lot to the SE corner of the school building itself. I have no way of telling where school grounds begin.
Now it is nice of the FPD to tell people how to transport legally in a school zone, (bolded above) what about people with trucks and SUVs that don't have a separate locking container.
The other thing that's silly about this whole deal is that in Fairfield you are more likely to need a gun for self defense than in other nearby cities.
Is there anything we can do to disrupt this atrocity that won't bring any undue attention?

Matt Garcia Foundation to hold gun buy-back Sept. 4 in Fairfield
Times-Herald staff report

FAIRFIELD - The Matt Garcia Foundation holds its second annual Gun Buy-Back on Sept. 4, it was announced.
Two years ago, Fairfield Councilman Matt Garcia was killed by a man using a gun bought at a garage sale -- a weapon "that could have been collected at an event like this buy-back," according to the announcement.
"To continue to honor and uphold Garcia's mission to make Fairfield a safer city," the Matt Garcia Foundation is holding the event in conjunction with the Fairfield Police Department, the announcement notes.
"This buy-back is about encouraging people to turn in guns that they have no use for, that are stored in the backs of closets, that their grandpa left and grandma would never touch," foundation supporter Ray Courtemanche said. "These are the very guns that unnecessarily get into the wrong hands and are used in crimes."
The foundation is giving $100 gift cards to Target, Wal-mart, Grocery Outlet or Westfield mall to each person turning in an unwanted gun from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day at Fairfield's St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 1600 Union Ave., the announcement notes. Unloaded guns can be turned in anonymously, and must be in one's vehicle's trunk upon arrival at the event, it says.
Participants can uphold the late councilman's legacy by turning in a gun, encouraging someone else to turn in an unwanted gun, or by donating to the Matt Garcia Foundation to help "take more guns out of closets and potentially out of the hands of criminals,"
