    AR types for lefties

I'd appreciate some feedback on how standard AR-types work for southpaws. Here's my situation - I'm LH, but my two sons aren't. It seems like companies like Stag Arms wouldn't make a LH AR if there weren't real issues. So help me out, I don't want to get a gun only I can use, but I also don't want one that's marginal for me. Thanks for your advice!

I've used standard ARs for decades. Don't feel a need for a LH version.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

same here. If anything, you could install an ambi-safety if you wanted to, but I've never used one myself. Since it is a mainly a range toy, I can deal with the safety being on the wrong side.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

So is it a solution to a problem that does not exist ?

Reason I ask is a buddy of mine is a lefty and has asked about it recently. I told him they make a left handed version but did not know if it made a difference.

stick with a standard ar but install an ambi safety. Lefties require non standard BCG. Unless you're left eye dominant try shooting right handed.

Lefty here. I have a standard Stag-15 and have no problems using it. I never had any problems using the M-16 when I was in the military.

I also use an ambi selector on my stag.

The A2 type case deflector took care of getting hit by empty ejected cases for us leftys. I got hot brass down my shirt the first time I fired an M16A1 on a military range. I learned to keep my top button fastened after that!

I don't think a LH Mag release is any useful because it would be negated by a BB

Thanks for all the great info! I see a couple of references to a good or type 2 case deflector. Is this a replacement part or a fixed original part?

As a lefty standard ARs work just fine for me....I do like to add the ambi-safety selector and a tac-latch on the charging handle though.

Just go standard pattern and rock it till the cows come home.

I havet had issues with standard ar.

I think stag arms created a lefty ar so when two operators enter a room shells won't be flying in other guys face. other ten that training helps a lefty keep their firing hand on the Pistolgrip and their support hand can do everything else for a more "efficiant" effect such as clearing double feeds, mag changes etc.

but! I'm so use to right hand my left hand does everything while the right supports only ad flips up buis. haha. not a good thing.
