Transportation of ammo, interstate to CA

Anyone familiar with any state or fed rules on buying ammo out of state (NV, AZ) and carrying it in my trunk back to CA? Any difference whether handgun ammo, rifle ammo? I've been trying to stock up, but eventually will need to buy more and I don't want to play ball with CA and the supporters of AB962. I'd rather drive to Vegas for the weekend and come back with supplies. May also get a box there to have on-line purchases shipped to and pick it up. CA can lose the sales tax, and deserve it, like everthing else they drive out of CA with their laws. Still cannot believe Arnold, the schmuck that he is, signed this damn thing.

No different than buying a TV or a pack of gum and bringing it to California. Of course, just like anything you buy out of state, you will need to pay a use tax for it at the end of the year. IT does not make a differenceif you paid sales tax in another state or not. Legally, anything you bring into California will either require you to pay a use tax or you will need to resell it and collect sales tax on it to give to the state.

It makes a bit of a difference in that you can deduct the out of state sales or use tax you paid from total that you owe California. So if you buy in person in another State that has higher sales tax than your California location (if such a State exists ), you don't have to pay use tax at all.

Cool, I did not know this since, I've never purchased anything out of state and brought it back here. I guess that if I ever do, I'll be sure to keep my receipts.
