AR 10 and AR15 in Kalifornia???

We just got back to Kalifornia after being stationed here back in 91(Air Force banished us here till retirement 2010) and boy it's a lot more crowded now(central coast).
If I'm reading the DOJ website right then it means I can't bring my AR10 or any of my AR15's here(they're packed up back home in the South at my Mothers place). And I also have to pay around $27.00 dollars for every handgun I want to go back home and bring back. I spent 10 years in Hawaii and I thought they were restrictive but it seems like they have it pretty good.
Anyway this looks like a pretty good Forum so I think I'll keep an eye on it.

    *Welcome*

Depending on what brand of AR you have, you *may* be able to bring it in.... with some *stupid* CA modifications(namely, evil-featuresless or fixed-magazines).... and if the brand that you now own is ALREADY on the list... all you need to do is get an "off the list" lower receiver ~$100... and go from there.

Regarding your "more than 10 rounds" magazines.... if you have them BEFORE the ban (2000) when you are still in CA.... you are legal to keep them... you just can't import the ones that you didn't have back then...

As good as I can remember one of my AR's is a Rock River Arms LAR15(RRA Varminter,24 inch bull barrel) and the other one is an Olympic Arms CAR15(standard AR15 A2). I guess my AR10 and SLR 100 are out of the question. LOL. It looks to me that the RRA LAR 15 is off the list, can I bring it out here on my next as it is or do I have to make any mods before it gets here?

Do the mods before they get here.

          Quiet,

I'll probably go pick up the RRA Varminter this Summer sometime and do the mod before I leave my Mothers house.
Another question is what mods do I have to do to my RRA Varminter to bring it out here? It is a standard 24 inch bull barrel with a pistol grip and flat top receiver with a scope mounted. Thanks for any info. I usually end up more confused when I read the DOJ website(I don't think it's just me this time).

            Again, read this thread. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=56818

Your choice is "fixed max 10 rounds magazine" or "evil-featureless" (ie. no pistol grip, no telescoping stock, no fwd pistol grip, no flash hider).... you can use "MMG" tho

OK, bear with me now, The way I read it is that if I install a 10 round fixed mag on my RRA 24 inch Varminter that has a pistol grip I can then legally bring it back to Kalifornia with me.

Yes, as long as the fixed Magazine requires a "tool" to be removed from the lower receiver. (Bullet Button, Mag Lock etc)

You can also apply for a military exemption before you get here. You would be able to use 10 round mags only but your rifle would be exempt. It is too late (or too early) to look it up for me, but if you do a search there have been a couple of guys that have done it successfully.
