If you know Large Ring Mauser actions can you comment on

The different fit and finish / smoothness of the actions found in the surplus market today? I would just like to have a better idea on how this action compares between manufacturers; the reason being that I'd like to build one (Non Sporterized) in 30-06 and my only point of reference is a rough Turkish Mauser that is not very inspiring.
At one point I had a surplus small ring Sweed that was Smoooooth and well fitted and would love to get a Large Ring that compares to that.

IMHO you will never get a mauser action that is as smooth as a swede. Most of the ones with very smooth actions are worth more as a collector piece than if you hack it up to make an 30-06

i like the cz mauser actions, theyre pretty smooth for the price ($209@aim). and they are in 8mm, so the bolt should work for your .30-06... same shell holder at least...
i am not an expert, though. ive only owned a cz.

I've seen mausers in 30-06 from colombia and... brazil? but they comand a premium that I just do not realize.
I've seen "comercial" Mausers that are pretty nice But my focus is surplus for budgetary reasons. I'll look at Aim ans see what they have, thanks.

are you doing it for the surplus rifle, or surplus ammo? 8mm is a lot more common than 30.06 right now... but if its for the sake of taking on a project, then

The CZ on AIM are really nice, I sure wish some one in SD would trade as nice an action so I would not have to bubbafy a working rifle.
I'm doing it, to have it. Logistically it makes no sense to me to stock another caliber and I allready reload '06.
Any idea how the CZ action compares to the Turk in fit of parts?

I've got a Argentinian FN contract Mauser that is pretty damn smooth beats out my 1967 Rem 700 action.

The best you could use is a 1909 Argentine. Sold one 4 years ago $350 for the action only. VZ-24's can be found for a reasonable price. There are plenty of actions availble.

Aim has some nice VZ-24 rifles for 200$ and if nothing pans out as a trade, that's the route I'm going to take.

I think it's a 1924/30 model.
